another beautiful tasmanian home

It's easy to see why tourists and people looking to relocate come to Northern Tasmania when you take a drive from Launceston to Bridport with beautiful vineyards dotted across the hills and equally stunning houses to live in!
This beautiful georgian home has been given a new lease of life over the past few years, with extensive renovations and the addition of two new wings.   The lucky family living here get the best of both worlds with the seamless blend of old and new.

Skylights flood the home with natural light....
Contemporary furniture and art mixed with rustic antiques and pulled together with orange...it works!
The new wings and the original part of the home are linked by this glass atrium.
Typical of georgian architecture is the fan light over the front door.
The structured formal garden links the new wings to the back of the original homestead.

You will be able to see more of this beautiful home in a new book of Tasmanian Homes of which I will post the details soon.  And thank you to the lovely and talented lady of the home for allowing me to snap a few shots!  xx

In store today......

well yes, we were closed but we have extended our trading hours so that all of our lovely loyal customers have more time to pop in for a chat!   Friday last week, a customer who was a regular when I first opened but who hadn't been into the store for a while came in....how lovely it was to see her again, it was like catching up with an old friend.  It really is nice to see familiar faces... and new ones too of course.
We also appreciate the time that you take to follow this blog and thanks heaps if you have liked our facebook page, ecoco launceston, it's a great way to keep informed about what's happening on a daily basis, if you need to know!!!
If you haven't seen us lately, we have a new window display complete with some beautiful new cushions from Bonnie & Neil, one of our favourite Aussie designers.  The cornflour blue floral adds a splash of colour to the window.....what do you think?

There has been a steady stream of christmas stock arriving over the last few weeks....so we have heaps and heaps of gift ideas and more to come.

We are waiting on some more recycled glass grape lights and round tyre frame mirrors....hoping they'll be here soon.
On a final note well done to the committee who organised the cancer council breakfast in Launceston this morning for 200 people, hope you raised heaps! xx

creative tasmanian homes

This is the first in our series of creative tasmanian homes.  Today we are featuring a fabulously creative, newly painted (in Murobond's Society Inc chalkboard paint, colour farrier)....kitchen.

Already a gorgeous kitchen, this one has been given a dramatic makeover with some black magic.   It's not just the bold paint job that gives this kitchen its magic however, it's the creative touches such as art on the walls,  interesting displays of food, books, flowers and crockery.   Also the mix of vintage and modern, fixed joinery and freestanding pieces of furniture give this kitchen a personality of its own.

Love it...x

stay here!

Next time you are visiting Launceston and need two bedroom, two bathroom self catering accommodation with car parking and within a few minutes walk to the city centre.....stay here, we would love to have you!
Since returning from our holiday I have been busy adding some finishing touches to the apartment above the shop, ready for our first guests who arrive on Monday.   When the apartment was first completed it was difficult to know whether to find a long term tenant or to try the fully furnished accommodation market.  Given the location is perfect for accommodation, that is where we have gone with it.........
It's been a mad scramble to find furniture as some of the larger items which I had in the shop and could have used have sold in the last couple of weeks.   But it's amazing what you can find and do when you have a deadline!

 The television works!

Inevitably I will continue to change things, as everything is always "a work in progress" here, things just tend to evolve.  I am on the lookout for a couple of old leather chairs or a leather sofa and some interesting dining chairs, and when I have some spare time I have a few blank canvases.................

If you are interested in accommodation the property is listed with Bushby Property Group, or you can contact me via ecoco.com.au.  x

in store today....

We have had to make some fairly significant changes to the back of the shop this week, quite a few larger pieces of furniture have sold which is great but means major reshuffling......
we have expanded our range of reclaimed timber and recycled glass products.
We also have more hemp entrance mats from Armadillo & Co, designed to sit inside french or single doors, I think these are a great idea......in charcoal or natural.

will post new photos of the front of the shop tomorrow.  x
