outdoor rooms

Well here in Tassie it is time to start spring cleaning the outdoor living area, dust off the tables and chairs and clean the BBQ!!!
These are a couple of my favourite photos of outdoor living spaces.  Long after the magazines have been thrown away (sorry don't have references) I have held onto these pages.   I love the enduring style of these spaces, both photos are probably 5 or 6 years old.
The green of the grape vine looks amazing against the ochre coloured wall.  A similar effect could be achieved by using Murobond's rust paint or a similar colour in Murowash.   I'm inspired!!!

I'm back....

After several weeks of not being able to upload photos onto my blog, the problem has finally resolved itself...amazing I know!!!  I thought I would give it one last try before heading off to see the experts and voila, I'm back.   Who would have thought that such a simple thing would make me so happy?  Stay tuned I have a backlog of photos and stuff to blog about.

Home is where the heart is....

This afternoon after Shannon Fricke's inspiring workshop at ecoco, I came home and took the opportunity to have a cup of tea in our garden (then of course I had to get the camera!)  As I sat in front of the home I have created with my family over the past 10 years, I reflected on some of the things Shannon talked about in her workshop.  The main objective of the workshop was to inspire creative confidence.....to give the girls the confidence to express themselves in their homes using the tools of decoration and design.  Quite simply Shannon explains, your home should refect your story, it is where you can explore who you are and what you love...and the measure of a successful home or interior should be how you feel in that space.
Sitting in my garden sipping tea..... feeling peace and tranquility, this is our home, this is our story.  Over 10 years we have turned every shovel full of soil, planted every plant, chosen every colour, every texture, every fitting, filled this home with boys, treasures from our journeys together and things we love.  Yes, most of the time it is a mess, and of course nothing is finished but we love it still!  Who said the great Australian dream of owning your own "castle" is losing appeal?!?

Home is about memories, it doesn't seem that long ago, we had great friends around to help us put the pond and fountain in place, then we all sat on the steps looking at it and sipping on a cold beer!
and when you have a spring garden home can go to work with you!!!
Thanks Shannon for inspiring us all!

Hello Sunshine!!!

Loving the sunshine today....and any little splash of the happiest colour (yellow) inside as well!
The happy colour seen here energizing the grey sofa and walls.

Shannon Fricke visited ecoco today to make some final plans for her How to Decorate workshop which is happening this Saturday.....everyone is very excited and looking forward to being inspired by someone who is passionate about interiors.
